Five Minute Friday

I've never done one of these before. But I should be able to write for 5 minutes...right? 11:35pm, go.

Five years ago: February 2006

I was one month into discovering my second pregnancy. In some ways it was a complete 180* from my first, and in others...very much the same, though you wouldn't have known it to look at my outward situation. During my first pregnancy I was single, 25 years old, working, foot-loose and fancy-free (although as I look back now, I didn't take as much advantage of that as I should have). During this second pregnancy, I'm married, with a daughter and step-daughter (although she didn't live with us most of the time), and DOING. IT. RIGHT. THIS. TIME. I was thrilled for that reason. The first time had sooooo muuuuuch drama wrapped up with it (the legal ramifications of which were on-going)...and in that respect, it was exactly like the first. All the environmental and situational events and issues that arrive with being pregnant were, of course, the same, and so I immediately reverted to my first-time experience. Insert hyperventilating here.

BUT. God was still in charge, and with my desperate prayers of "God, are you sure it's okay for us to TRY to get pregnant on our own?? Isn't that something that's supposed to happen by YOU???" He sent me an amazing message. "Simon," He said. My name is not Simon, but we were desperately hoping for a boy (and boy he was!) so immediately I researched the name Simon.

"He hears," it said.

(linking up with Gypsy Mama for this -- my first -- Five Minute Friday! :) )
